Solutions: Truck Drivers

Transport for Christ is a “mission organization dedicated to reaching, supporting and encouraging truck drivers.” In addition to active ministry in Russia, Zambia, TFC has 33 Chapels at truck stop locations throughout North America. Three new chapels are currently in development: Beaverdam (OH), Indianapolis (IN) and Racine (WI). TFC Chaplains regularly visits drivers at terminals as well. TFC publishes a printed monthly magazine, Highway News and Good News, which is distributed across North America as well as in Africa and Australia. The magazine is also in PDF format on their website, along with a free Bible study series. They have a toll free 24/7 Trucker Prayer line: (877) 797-PRAY (7729) and a Christian blog called Daily Encouragement which is available for free subscription. TFC is developing a new Web Site at www.driverswellness.com to reach truckers from all aspects of wellness – physical, emotional, social, and spiritual. We are going to start looking for these chapels when we take a road trip and try to meet some of their chaplains on the road.

Christian Veterinary Mission is an organization that sponsors the Christian Veterinary Fellowship for veterinary students around the world at veterinary school campuses. The home organization, CVM, is a professional organization for veterinarians that focuses on outreach and mission projects around the world. Read their Professional Outreach Herald for devotionals and their Vision 2010 statement of direction. Their International Animal Health Newsletter (IAHN) is very comprehensive and a list of topics can be found here.

Christian Writers’ Group International (CWGI) is a non-profit group for any born again writer. Founded in 1997, the group is focused on improving the skills of writers and connecting writers through an email discussion list. Since the group hosts its email discussion on Yahoo, it’s available through the simple Yahoo sign-up.

Faith Writers is another interesting online site with an ezine, Faith Writers Magazine which showcases the writing of members.

The Christian’s Medical and Dental Association has been around since 1931. Made up of the Christian Medical Association and Christian Dental Association, CMDA provides resources, networking opportunities, education, and a public voice for Christian healthcare professionals and students. This is a big organization with a staff of over 75. You can tell from their Master Calendar that you can get involved at whatever level you choose. Their ministry outreach is worldwide and, as you will see, there is room for every medical or dental professional to grow and learn on every level with this group including extensive missions work.

One of the most interesting Christian Real Estate organizations we’ve found is DREM, the Dallas Real Estate Ministries. We are working with DREM to create specialized materials and training for real estate people to make an impact at the workplace and to share the gospel responsibly with non-Christians with whom they have a relationship. We appreciate Bill Dotson, their founder, very much and you’ll be hearing a podcast from Bill soon on this blog. DREM is active in service, ministry, and in developing the next generation of Christian business people. Join them for a meeting if you will be in the DFW area and review their Ambassador’s program.

The Christian Business Men’s Committee, now just CBMC, founded in 1930, is one of the oldest, and largest general business networking, learning, and development ministries for Christian men. In their words, “Today, CBMC has grown from a small group of men in Chicago to over 18,000 members in 700 teams across the United States. Worldwide, CBMC is active in over 70 countries with over 50,000 members total. Our methods continue to evolve to reflect the circumstances of modern men, but our purpose remains the same: to evangelize and disciple business and professional men for Christ.” You may know their Operation Timothy studies. Here’s a link to upcoming events. This is a great organization. If you are traveling, attend one of their meetings – you’ll be glad you did!

The Christian Educator’s Association is a group formed in 1953, and is exclusively for Christian educators in public and private schools. CEAI is a non-profit religious association with a Membership Service Center in Westlake, Ohio. Their support is through memberships, tax-deductible donations and grants. CEAI membership consists of teachers, administrators, para-professionals including any person hired by a school district. Here’s a link to the subscription page for their magazine, Teachers of Vision. You are going to like this organization if you have been trying to survive in a purely secular association! Solutions: Oil and Gas Industry

The Oil Field Christian Fellowship is a group of Christian men and women in the oil and gas business with chapters in Houston, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Dallas, Fort Worth, Brazos Valley (TX), Lafayette (LA), and New Orleans with other cities joining the group. They have a serious effort underway to place Bibles on every oil rig. They use the Oil Patch Bible (NIV) that uses language appealing to guys and gals in the oil and gas industry. The Fellowship of Christian Farmers originated in 1985 in San Antonio, TX during the American Soybean Association EXPO. The home office is in Lexington, IL. The FCFI has no affiliation with any particular commodity group or agricultural organization. It is a non-profit, nondenominational ministry. Their calendar includes farm shows all over the country and mission trips around the world. We really like their PROFIT magazine, which emphasizes Christian service. Get involved!
